Next Snow Forecast per Weather.com Sunday Feb 21 (We’re supposed to get even MORE snow)

WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) — Storm totals of 8″ – 18″ were common across the Metro while points north and east received anywhere from 12″ – 24″. For many of us this storm marks the third storm of a foot or more and for some, the 4th. It is now the snowiest winter at all three major airports with 55.9″ at National, 72.8″ at Dulles and 79.9″ at BWI.

We can dig out over the weekend as yet another storm develops but passes well to our south. The next chance of snow is Monday afternoon and Monday night with a Clipper. In the meantime be careful at night and in the early morning hours driving and walking to get to the paper with the re-freeze of the day’s melting snow.

FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA) — Yet another building is in danger of collapsing under the weight of even more heavy snow in Maryland.

Mike Dmuchowski, spokesperson for Frederick County Fire and Rescue, says it’s just a matter of time before a large metal frame building located at 200 Monroe Avenue succumbs to the pressure of the heavy snowfall.

Dmuchowski says crews were first alerted to the buckling building around 2:33 Wednesday morning. The roof of the building is sagging and dipping down between the support beams. The side of the building is also starting to cave in. Dmuchowski says approximately 21000 square feet of the 53000 square foot building is affected.

The structure, owned by Ruppert Properties, houses a few businesses including the FCC Workforce Training Center.

Beginning at 11:00 AM today, Friday, February 12th, contracted crews from Mid-Atlantic Utilities will begin clearing snow on Market Street from the Square Corner north. As the crews progress, blocks will be shut down to allow them to work unimpeded by traffic. Work will continue until dusk. On Saturday, February 13th . Mid-Atlantic crews will continue snow removal until dusk. Crews will be clearing both the street and as much of the snow on the sidewalks as is safely possible.

Tonight, Friday, February 12th, City of Frederick Department of Public Works crews will begin clearing snow block-by-block on Patrick Street, beginning at the Post Office and working west to the Square Corner. On Sunday, February 14th, City DPW crews will begin clearing the side streets in the downtown area to create as much on-street parking as possible.

On Sunday, February 14th and Monday, February 15th, all crews, both Mid Atlantic Utilities and City DPW personnel will take mandatory downtime to get much-needed rest.

Mayor McClement extends his sincere appreciation to residents and patrons for their patience and understanding during this historic snow event.
